Universities within the European Union (EU) are some of the most distinguished and meritorious institutes within the world. Some of the universities in Europe date back more than centuries. Scholars lucky enough to complete their higher qualifications from European institutes get accepted hands-on by employers and other educational institutes for further studies.
Some students may have the necessary academic abilities but not enough financial resources to fund their studies. Scholarships provide an easy way for students to achieve their higher qualification with limited or no stress of worrying about their tuition fees. Let’s look at the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Programme.
The Erasmus (EuRopean Community Action Scheme for Mobility of University Students) Mundus Scholarship is one of the most coveted scholarship programs for students interested in studying in the European Union. Both European-Union students and scholars from outside of the European-Union countries can apply for the scholarship.
Erasmus Mundus refers to the applications for students outside of the European Union. Erasmus+ indicates the requisitions made by the candidates within the European Union. These are one of the business tactics to help differentiate between domestic and international students.
Scholars from EU and non-EU countries are welcome. The course targets students from all over the world. Candidates interested in applying for a position on the scholarship must study the following eligibility requirements:
The candidates applying for the EMJMD scholarship must have a completed bachelor’s degree by 9 January 2020 to apply to the 2020 batch.
Candidates who have already received an EMJMD scholarship before are NOT eligible to receive the EMJMD scholarship again.
All applicants need to clear an English Language Proficiency Test. IELTS applicants must achieve an overall score of 6.5 in this test and a minimum of 6.0 in all four components. Alternatively, candidates can also take the TOEFL PBT, CBT or iBT examination.
Aspirants need to include a statement of purpose, an unequivocal Curriculum Vitae including all academic transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
The scholarship is available only for candidates from shortlisted countries. Therefore, candidates from all nations will not be able to apply for the program.
The Erasmus Mundus scholarship program supports a maximum of three master’s programs.
Students applying for different countries will face different criteria of selection. For example, the selection criteria for Denmark will be different from that of Scotland. Danish will be preferred in Denmark while Scottish is the preference in Scotland.
The Erasmus Mundus application design is such that candidates can’t apply unless they meet the eligibility criterion. Their eligibility criteria are one of the time hacks to increase productivity. The application submission period is between 1 October 2019 and 10 January 2020. Applications submitted after this deadline will be valid as self-funding applicants.
It is advisable to choose a thesis subject which is in coordination with the relevant themes covered by the Euroculture programme. There is no restriction whatsoever on the topic you select. The main motive behind uploading a thesis or dissertation is to demonstrate the applicant’s ability to perform research and investigations in an educational context.
Candidates graduating after the 10 January 2020 date will be considered as self-financing candidates regardless of when they send in their application forms. Applicants who have an official statement of graduation from their university before the deadline can apply for the program. The official declaration of graduation must mention the candidate’s name, programme name, and verify that you have passed all the formal requirements for the higher qualification. You can submit the dissertation in its original language if it is in a language other than English.
Candidates applying for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship must submit their English language test results on or before the deadline. Use the email euroculture@rug.nl if you have already submitted your application and want to convey your English test results. The email needs to be sent before the deadline for the requisition to be valid.
One of the reasons for the popularity of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program is because of the comprehensive benefits of the package. The total package of the scholarship varies depending on the country of application of the candidate. The fellowship is designed to benefit non-EU candidates. The grant has only recently begun to include applicants from EU nations.
The total amount of the scholarship is spread out over two years, which includes:
The exact values are not given because the actual amount of the award varies from year to year. To get an idea of the entire experience, candidates can refer to these Erasmus Mundus success stories.
